Showroom Detail · O'Fallon, MO
German sedan, inside and out
A pride-of-ownership car that had been washed carefully but never decontaminated. The paint felt rough and the finish looked flat in the sun.
- Vehicle
- Enthusiast-owned BMW
- Service
- Showroom Detail
- Time on site
- Two visits, about 9 hours total
- Investment
- $525

What we were dealing with
- •Bonded contamination across horizontal panels — gritty to the touch through a plastic bag
- •Water spots along the trunk lid and roof
- •Wheel faces and barrels holding baked-on brake dust
What we did
- 1Contact-free pre-wash and foam dwell to lift the loose layer before anything touches the paint
- 2Two-bucket hand wash with a grit guard, one microfiber mitt per section
- 3Chemical decontamination, then mechanical decon to strip bonded fallout
- 4Wheels cleaned off the vehicle-facing side too — barrels, not just faces
- 5Sealant applied to paint and glass, trim dressed, exhaust tips polished
- 6Interior detailed to Signature standard on the second visit
How it turned out
- •Paint that finally feels glass-smooth, which is what makes protection bond properly
- •Owner booked ceramic coating for the following spring on the back of the result
